Box Tree Moth is on its Way !

The Box Tree Moth (Cydalima perspectalis) is an invasive pest that attacks Boxwood shrubs exclusively.

These hungry caterpillars can rapidly devour entire plants, leaving just webbing, sawdust debris, and half eaten bark that will ultimately kill the Boxwood

The adult moths have shiny pearlescent white wings with a  thick dark brown margin. They have a distinctive small white crescent on the front of the wings. The moth is about 1.5 inches across.

The caterpillars are light green and have black stripes, white spots and shiny balck heads. This is the most likely stage that you would spot them doing there extensive damage.

Keep an eye out for feeding damage, webs and stripped bark.

These pests can have multiple generations in a season so the damage can be severe.
